“You should be very proud (of your) national network of recovery homes built around DEMOCRACY. Ronnie would be proud of you too.  Keep Up The Good Work!”

Nancy Reagan - 2002

"Oxford House is built on the principle of self-help. The houses are run democratically, which helps the residents learn responsibility."

White House National Drug Control Strategy - Feb 2006

Mission:

To help others break the cycle of addiction that often leads addicts into the criminal justice system or worse… and causes repeat offenses.

We are working to expand the Oxford House program of low cost sober housing to Atlanta.

Movement:

Since 1975, Oxford House has established over 1300 individual houses around the country, and just opened the first ones in Atlanta.

Oxford House is a member of the Combined Federal Campaign [CFC] and numerous United Way Campaigns around the country. Donated funds are used to expand the number of Oxford Houses. Each Oxford House is an ordinary house rented by individual groups of 8 to 16 residents recovering from addiction to alcohol and/or drug addiction. Many residents also are afflicted by other mental or physical illnesses. Together, they help each other to become comfortable enough in sobriety to function well as productive, clean and sober citizens.

Oxford House program offers a safe, stable place to recover from substance abuse issues. Each house is democratically self run and self supporting so we share expenses and our living environment to teach fiscal and general responsibility whilst on the road to recovery.

Skeptical?

Although some are initially dubious of the viability of a self run recovery program, it is probably the most effective method of LONG TERM recovery from drugs and alcohol that has ever been devised. Federally sponsored studies have shown success rates in excess of 70% still sober after 5 years… based on 13 years of data.

Anyway, please don’t hesitate to check us out; our data is public knowledge and our results are second to none!

Although we are just getting going in Atlanta, we have the backing of 33 years of knowledge and 1300 houses around the country.

We hope to open up as many shelter houses in 2009 as people need, and we will endeavor to always have capacity for people serious about their recovery.
